Bloomfield Elementary Students

All-State Choir participants from Bloomfield Middle School and Bloomfield
Elementary School include (Front) Corey, Whitney, Clara, Joanna, Bailey;
(Middle) Michaela, Dane, Madeline, Hailey; (Back) Alyssa, Dylan, Nathan
and Aleah.


Bardstown Elementary Students

All-State Choir participants from Bardstown
Elementary were Isaac and Mary Grace.


Bluegrass Christian Students

All-State Choir participants from Bluegrass
Christian Academy were Anna and Baylen.


New Haven School Student

Raena, an eighth-grader at New Haven
School, is probably the first New Haven
student to participate in All-State
Chorus.


NCHS Student

This was the fifth year of participation
in the KY-ACDA All-State Choir for
NCHS student Kailyn.


County well represented in All-State Choir

Staff Report

Nineteen talented singers from Bardstown and Nelson County, including 13 from Bloomfield, were selected to participate in the Kentucky Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association (KY-ACDA) All-State Choir in November. The choir sang at the Singletary Center for the Performing Arts on the University of Kentucky campus, Lexington.

The event included three choirs of 200 voices each. These included a fifth- and sixth-grade children’s choir, a seventh-, eighth- and ninth grade three-part treble choir (SSA), and a seventh-, eighth- and ninth-grade (SATB) mixed voice choir. SSA is soprano, soprano, alto. SATB is soprano, alto, tenor and bass.

Those students chosen to participate in the children’s choir from Bloomfield Elementary School were Clara, Whitney and Joanna. From Bardstown Elementary School, Isaac and Mary Grace. From Bloomfield Middle School, Bailey, Hailey, Madeline (second year), Corey (second year), Dane and Michaela (second year). From Bluegrass Christian Academy, Anna.

In the junior high choirs, students from Bloomfield Middle School were Nathan (third year), Aleah (second year), Alyssa (second year) and Dylan (third year). From Bluegrass Christian Academy, Baylen (second year). From New Haven School, Raena (second year). From Nelson County High School, Kailyn. This was Kailyn’s fifth year participating in KY-ACDA All-State Choir having been accepted each year she was eligible.

The students are all members of the Bloomfield Children’s Chorale and were all sponsored by Darrell Parks, music teacher at Bloomfield Elementary School and choir director for Bloomfield Elementary and Bloomfield Middle Schools.

Parks is the Repertoire and Standards Chairperson for Children’s Choirs for the Kentucky Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association and was the coordinator for this event. Parks is president of the Fourth District for the Kentucky Music Educators Association.
